W-1 PSI Visual Cylinder Inspection and HAZMAT

This formal course in the visual inspection of
SCUBA and SCBA cylinders prepares the graduate
to professionally and thoroughly inspect
breathing air cylinders. PSI training is
recognized by US courts as meeting the
definition of someone who has been trained.
Completion also satisfies the OSHA requirement
for hazardous material (HAZMAT) training for all
employees who fill, use or otherwise handle high
pressure gas cylinders. Cost $300* Limit 45
W-2 Drysuit Use, Maintenance and Repair: David
Sweetin & Bill Buckley, (Morris Room) 1 - 4 This workshop is
for the drysuit diver who wants to know more
about the repair and manufacture of the product.
We will have hands on instruction in repairs
including the replacement of seals, cleaning of
valves and leak testing suits in the field.
Students are expected to bring a suit to work
on, and all participants will receive a kit of
tools, glues and parts for doing seal
replacements. Divers will receive numerous tips
on how to get more out of their drysuit and how
to stay warmer and more comfortable in the
water. This is a perfect seminar for the diver
who wants to understand how things work and be
able to fix problems in the field.

PSI Eddy Current Technician: A. Dale Fox,
(Sussex Room), 9 - 12 Eddy
current testing is designed to detect cracks in
the neck area of aluminum cylinders. However,
improper use of the testing devices is resulting
in many false readings. This 3 hour workshop
provides manufacture-approved training in the
operation of the Visual Plus, Visual Plus 3
and Visual Eddy instruments. As this
training is an extension of basic PSI VCI
training, attendees MUST bring a copy of
their PSI certificate showing their PSI
Inspector Number. While not a requirement,
it is recommended that attendees also bring
their own Visual Plus/Visual Eddy instruments so
they may train on their own instruments. Cost

W-4 PSI Valve Repair Technician: A. Dale Fox,

This 3 hour course provides a broad overview of
valve types, valve repair and valve care. It was
developed in close association with the valve
manufacturers. Students will be provided a

personal previously trained as a PSI Visual

for those whose last formal VCI training was 3
or more years ago and will meet OSHA and DOT

images with your point & shoot digital camera.
The workshop will cover topics that range from
setup before the dive to maintenance at the end
of the trip, and everything in between. Students
will learn exposure mode techniques, lighting
with external and internal flash, white balance,
RAW files dealing with shutter delay, accessory
lenses, macro and wide angle photography. This
workshop will also be valuable to the D-SLR user
who is considering a point & shoot as a second

photography. Michel & Danielle will share with
you their no-nonsense simple approach to
underwater photography. Learn how to work with

W-13 Hands-On Underwater Photoshop: Jack & Sue

This three-hour workshop will be hands-on with
Photoshop. Each person attending will be
required to bring a laptop computer loaded with
either Photoshop 7, CS, CS2 or CS3. A selection
of sample underwater images will be distributed
and we will work together correcting them.
Samples will include some of the biggest
problems that plague underwater photographers,
so you can then apply what you've learned to
your own images. Students should bring six
images for editing during the last hour, if time

This 3-hour workshop will cover the difference
between HD and SD video formats. The course will
include many shooting techniques and advanced
camera features that will improve the quality of
your video. In addition, the workshop will
explore methods of composing and lighting your
subjects, developing story lines and the
different components of editing, including a
demonstration. With your underwater camera and

looking video.

presenters’ other workshop entitled “Underwater
Photography Made Simple”. While you will learn
more about advanced equipment, the bulk of the
workshop is focused on concepts like, workflow,
in the field and at home, lighting, subject
selection, composition techniques,
conceptualization and more. Using plain
language, these experts will help you achieve
more.

W-17 Oxygen First Aid and AED for SCUBA Diving:

a diver, you can receive training to provide
vital first aid that can make a difference to a
scuba diver with decompression illness. The DAN
Oxygen Provider and AED for SCUBA courses
provide entry-level training in the recognition
and management of possible diving-related
injuries using emergency oxygen as well as care
for sudden cardiac arrest using an AED. CPR
Review is provided during the class. At

is perhaps the most challenging and exciting
aspect of video production. This is where you
put together all those bits of video you shot to
produce an entertaining, and maybe even
educational, show that you can share with your
friends, family, and the world. Editing can be a
simple process of assembling your shots in a
logical manner, or it can be a complex process
that includes more advanced concepts. In this
workshop we will introduce you to video editing.
Topics covered will include: capturing video to
your computer, edit types, continuity, audio,
transitions, motion effects, compositing,
titles, and how to finish your project (DVD,
